The Democratic Republic of Congo has digitized 10 teaching modules for in-service teachers and school principals, according to a report published by Actualite.cd on Thursday. The initiative was led by the Ministry of National Education and New Citizenship with support from UNESCO as part of efforts to modernize training tools and widen access to professional development.
Officials said the digitized modules cover core areas including reading and writing, mathematics, educational leadership and inclusive teaching practices. The workshop presenting the results followed a nine-day technical mission held from April 12 to 20, 2026 in Mbanza-Ngungu, Kongo Central province.
Speaking on behalf of the ministry’s secretary-general, Christelle Nsambu said the project is expected to expand training coverage, improve teaching practices and strengthen school management structures.
UNESCO’s representative in the DRC, Isaias Barrett Da Rosa, said the initiative reflects a broader effort to build an education system that can adapt and evolve by placing teachers and school leaders at the center of change.
The digitization drive fits into a wider reform push in the Congolese education sector. Earlier this month, the ministry signed a memorandum on strengthening the digitalization of the education system, while UNESCO has also linked its support in the DRC to stronger teacher training and school leadership under the EFFICACE program backed by the Global Partnership for Education.
