Rwandan singer Uworizagwira Florien, known professionally as Yampano, has reacted after the Kicukiro Primary Court ordered the temporary detention of four suspects for 30 days in a case related to the alleged distribution of his private, intimate video.
The court ruled that Uzabakiriho Cyprien, also known as Djihad, Ishimwe François Xavier, Kwizera Nestor (Pappy Nestor) and Ishimwe Patrick (Pazzo Man) be held on provisional detention, while Kalisa John (KJohn) will continue to be investigated while not in custody.
The decision, delivered on December 17, 2025, is linked to an ongoing investigation into allegations that explicit footage involving Yampano and his partner was circulated without consent.
Speaking in a media interview, Yampano said he respects the court’s decision and appreciates the role of justice in addressing the case. However, he emphasized that the detention of others is not something he views as a victory.
He noted that his primary concern is the protection of his privacy and the establishment of truth, rather than seeing individuals jailed. The artist also clarified that his initial complaint was not intended to result in the imprisonment of all those named in the file, stressing that some were cited as witnesses or for clarification during investigations.
Judicial proceedings in the matter are ongoing, with authorities continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the alleged dissemination of the video.
