Rwandan artist Papa Cyangwe has publicly expressed support for fellow musician Yampano, who is currently facing a series of personal and legal challenges.
Yampano recently disclosed that he is going through a difficult period following a legal complaint filed by his former wife. He has also spoken about the emotional impact of their separation, which he says was compounded by the death of his child.
In an interview with MI Empire, Yampano explained that tensions escalated after private videos involving him circulated online. According to the artist, the situation led to a rapid breakdown of his marriage.
Afterward, Yampano traveled to Belgium to meet with partners assisting him in preparing an upcoming tour. While abroad, he received news of his child’s death, prompting his return to Rwanda.
Upon returning, Yampano said he felt unsafe due to what he described as increasing hostility and threats. He reported the matter to the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB), citing concerns for his personal security.
Reports later emerged that his former wife had filed a formal complaint accusing Yampano of physical abuse and intimidation. The allegations were reportedly submitted while she was still receiving medical attention for injuries.
In response to these developments, Papa Cyangwe, a close friend and long-time collaborator of Yampano, shared a message of encouragement aimed at offering emotional support during the ongoing ordeal.
In his message, Papa Cyangwe urged Yampano to remain resilient, expressing confidence that the challenges he faces are temporary. He also reaffirmed his personal support and that of Yampano’s fans and family.
Papa Cyangwe and Yampano previously collaborated on the song “Ngo,” a track credited with significantly boosting Yampano’s music career. The two artists have maintained a close relationship since.
Yampano has stated that, aside from his mother, he currently has limited personal support as he navigates this period.
