Mariam Oyakhilome is choosing transparency over speculation when it comes to her recent body transformation.

The Nigerian comedian, actress, YouTuber, entrepreneur, and influencer has revealed that she underwent liposuction after years of feeling unhappy with excess abdominal fat.

According to Saturday Sun, Oyakhilome decided to speak openly about the procedure rather than allow people to assume her new look came from weight-loss products or other methods.

The entertainer explained that her decision was driven by a desire to achieve a body shape she had long wanted. She clarified that she had liposuction and not a tummy tuck, stressing that the two procedures are different. In her view, liposuction was the right option for addressing stubborn fat around her stomach.

For Oyakhilome, the results went beyond physical appearance. She said the procedure significantly improved her confidence and left her feeling proud of her body.

One of the more striking parts of her revelation was her refusal to cash in on the transformation. The Edo State-born star disclosed that several slimming tea companies approached her with endorsement offers after her new look attracted attention online.

Rather than accept the deals, she chose to turn them down. Oyakhilome said she did not want to promote products that were not responsible for her weight-loss journey, insisting that honesty with her audience mattered more than potential earnings.

She also addressed concerns about the safety and recovery process associated with cosmetic surgery. According to her account, the procedure left only minimal incision marks and she was able to return home after a week, describing her recovery as smooth overall.

Beyond the conversation around beauty and body image, Oyakhilome reflected on a difficult period that led her away from social media. She revealed that a painful heartbreak, combined with what she described as the increasingly toxic nature of online spaces, pushed her to step back from platforms where she had built a large following.

The content creator said she initially left Instagram before moving to Facebook, where she had amassed more than 2.2 million followers. Eventually, she stepped away from that platform as well while dealing with personal challenges.

Despite the break, Oyakhilome acknowledged that content creation remains at the center of her career. After exploring other business ventures that did not meet her expectations, she said she realized that digital media and entertainment remain her strongest professional lane.

Her story arrives at a time when conversations around cosmetic surgery, influencer marketing, and authenticity continue to dominate social media across Africa. By speaking openly about her experience, Mariam Oyakhilome is adding her voice to a growing number of public figures choosing transparency over carefully curated narratives.
