Bryan Kohberger, the man accused of killing four University of Idaho students, is spending the Christmas holiday under strict conditions at the Idaho Maximum Security Institution.
According to Idaho Department of Correction spokesperson Sanda Kuzeta-Cerimagic, Kohberger is housed in long-term restrictive housing, where inmates have limited movement and minimal access to activities. Those housed in this unit are transported in shackles, making participation in special holiday programming more difficult.
One seasonal program that still reaches all facilities is “Cookies for Corrections,” operated by St. Vincent de Paul. The charity distributes donated boxes of cookies—including brands like Oreo, Chips Ahoy, and Nutter Butter—to inmates across Idaho’s correctional system. Kohberger is among those receiving the standard holiday cookie allotment.
For Christmas meals, the prison offers a “Holiday Turkey Roast.” However, due to Kohberger’s vegan diet, he is expected to receive alternatives such as a stuffed pepper entrée, vegan mashed potatoes, and vegan pumpkin pie.
Kohberger remains isolated under high-security supervision as he awaits the next stages of legal proceedings.
