Nigerian highlife star Flavour has cautioned men against pursuing relationships with married women, describing the behavior as dangerous and potentially life-ruining. The singer shared the message in a recent post on social media that quickly drew reactions from fans and followers.
In a post published on March 5 on X (formerly Twitter), Flavour warned men about what he described as “oringo,” an Igbo term associated with reckless indulgence and a lifestyle that ignores consequences.
“Agu! pray against oringo wey go carry you to dey reason another man wife. If you reach that level your life don spoil o,” he wrote, advising men to resist the temptation before it leads to serious consequences.
Meaning of “Oringo”
According to the singer, “oringo” represents a mentality driven by excessive indulgence or a carefree “you only live once” approach to life. In the context of his post, Flavour used the term to describe the mindset that could push someone toward pursuing another person’s spouse without considering the consequences.
His message framed the issue as a caution rather than a sermon, presenting it as advice based on personal perspective rather than criticism of a specific individual or situation.
A Message Consistent With His Personal Views
Flavour has increasingly spoken about discipline and making intentional life decisions. In a previous YouTube interview, he shared a personal story about leaving the United States despite an opportunity to settle there with a partner.
According to the singer, he chose to return to Nigeria to pursue his dream of becoming a recording artist.
“She was selling me this American dream… I compared my life back home, where I was going, what was happening,” he said. He recalled eventually deciding to leave, taking a taxi to JFK Airport to return to Nigeria and focus on his music career.
Social Media Reactions
Flavour’s post quickly sparked discussion online. Some users agreed with his warning and praised the message about discipline and respect in relationships. Others, however, dismissed the suggestion of spiritual or moral consequences tied to such behavior.
As the debate continued across social media platforms, the singer did not expand further on the post, leaving followers to interpret the message and discuss its meaning.
