A Nigerian filmmaker has described the upcoming film AVANTE as a defining contribution to contemporary African storytelling ahead of its March 29 premiere.

Victory Amah, a scriptwriter and filmmaker with AfriSQuare Entertainment, congratulated the producer of the highly anticipated project, commending the vision and discipline behind its production. She said bringing a film of such magnitude to the screen requires unwavering belief in the power of storytelling and a strong commitment to excellence.

According to Amah, AVANTE features a collaborative ensemble of accomplished performers. The cast is led by Chimezie Imoh, widely recognised for his acclaimed role in The Breath of Life, which earned attention at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.

Kingsley Okafor, known for his role in Marriage Stunts, also stars in the film, delivering what insiders describe as a performance marked by emotional intensity and depth.

The production further includes Patience Ujah, recognised for her work in Halita and Eagle Wings, alongside Eddie Watson, whose performance in The Waiter resonated with audiences across the continent. Ruth Nkweti, celebrated for her role in Living in Bondage: Breaking Free, is also featured in the film.

Behind the camera, the project is directed by Toka McBaror, whose previous works include Dark October, Merry Men: The Real Yoruba Demons, Kada River, and Lotanna. Amah noted that McBaror’s reputation for cinematic discipline and narrative finesse is expected to reinforce the film’s artistic integrity.

Described as a deeply human story, AVANTE explores themes of vengeance, love, justice and destiny. Industry observers have characterised the production not only as a film release but as a significant statement within Africa’s evolving film landscape.

With early praise building ahead of its premiere, expectations remain high that March 29 could mark a notable moment for the film’s creative team and the wider industry.
