Rapper Fetty Wap has been released from federal prison three years ahead of schedule following his conviction in a major drug trafficking case.
The artist, whose real name is Willie Junior Maxwell II, was sentenced in May 2023 to six years in prison after pleading guilty to charges linked to a large-scale cocaine distribution ring. According to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons, Fetty Wap was transferred to home confinement in Philadelphia and is expected to be fully released from federal supervision on November 8, 2026.
After his release, the rapper publicly thanked fans for their support during his incarceration. Court records show he was arrested in possession of more than 500 grams of cocaine and thousands of dollars in cash, which led to federal trafficking charges.
As part of his supervised release, Fetty Wap will remain under strict monitoring for five years.
Conditions include mandatory drug testing, restrictions on opening new bank accounts without federal approval, and requirements to report all income and tax records to the U.S. Probation Department. He is also prohibited from consuming alcohol or other intoxicants unless prescribed by a licensed physician.
Federal authorities indicated that the rapper may be required to participate in outpatient drug treatment programs if ordered by the court and will continue to undergo substance testing during and after treatment.
The early release follows compliance with federal prison guidelines and post-sentencing conduct requirements.
