Award-winning Ghanaian singer Efya has reacted to the return of controversial televangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, to church activities following her release from prison.

Agradaa regained her freedom on 3 March 2026 after completing a one-year custodial sentence. The term followed a successful appeal that reduced an earlier 15-year prison sentence imposed by the court.

Her return to the pulpit quickly sparked intense debate across social media, with many observers questioning whether the preacher’s time in prison had led to genuine change.

The discussion intensified after a video circulated online showing a member of Agradaa’s congregation appearing overwhelmed during a church service and rolling on the floor, reportedly under what was described as an anointing.

Reacting to the footage on social media, Efya expressed skepticism about the situation and suggested that similar controversies could emerge again.

“She’s fitting to do it to y’all again and again… we gon see..!!” the singer wrote.

Background to Agradaa’s Sentence

According to court records, Agradaa appeared before the Amasaman High Court on 5 February 2026 for judgment in her appeal. After reviewing the case, the court reduced the original 15-year sentence to 12 months’ imprisonment on two counts.

She was also fined 200 penalty units (GH¢2,400) and ordered to refund GH¢1,000 to two complainants, in addition to earlier fines imposed under another count.

The presiding judge described the initial 15-year sentence with hard labour as harsh and excessive, opting instead to vary the punishment while maintaining the conviction. Because the revised sentence was backdated to 3 July 2025, the preacher served a total of one year in prison before her release.

Agradaa’s return to church has continued to draw strong reactions online, highlighting the ongoing public scrutiny surrounding her activities and influence.
