Ghanaian singer Camidoh has spoken about the financial and structural challenges facing musicians in Ghana, describing the industry as difficult for emerging and established artistes alike.

In an interview with media personality Kafui Dey, the Afropop and Afrobeats artiste said many musicians struggle to earn sustainable income despite performing at major events.

Camidoh recalled receiving an offer of 700 cedis for a concert performance alongside a foreign artiste, adding that the payment was never made. He also criticised what he described as a lack of institutional support for the creative arts sector in Ghana.

According to the singer, musicians face challenges including limited funding opportunities, unpaid royalties and poor systems for tracking music airplay on radio stations. He urged stakeholders and investors to support the entertainment industry to help creatives grow and sustain their careers.

Camidoh also appealed to Ghanaians to encourage artistes instead of constantly criticising them, noting that many musicians face financial pressure while trying to produce music, organise shows and support their families.
