Burna Boy has added another major milestone to his global music journey.
The Grammy-winning Nigerian star has officially become the African artist with the most entries on the Billboard Hot 100, breaking a record he previously shared with fellow Nigerian singer Tems.
According to The Punch, Burna Boy moved ahead this week after his collaboration with Colombian superstar Shakira, "Dai Dai," entered the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 75. The song serves as an official FIFA World Cup track and has gained significant attention following its live performance at the tournament's opening ceremony.
Before the latest chart update, Burna Boy and Tems were tied with eight Billboard Hot 100 appearances each. The debut of "Dai Dai" pushes Burna Boy's total to nine entries, giving him sole ownership of the record among African artists.
The achievement further strengthens Burna Boy's reputation as one of Africa's most successful crossover acts. Over the past several years, he has consistently expanded his reach beyond the continent, building a presence on global charts through solo releases and international collaborations.
His Billboard Hot 100 journey includes songs such as "Loved By You" in 2021, the global hit "Last Last" in 2022, "Sittin' On Top Of The World" and "Talibans II" in 2023, followed by "Just Like Me" and "We Pray" in 2024. He continued the streak with "WGFT" in 2025 before adding "Only You" and now "Dai Dai" in 2026.
The record comes with another impressive distinction. Burna Boy is now the first African artist to place at least one song on the Billboard Hot 100 in six consecutive years, a run that highlights both his consistency and global appeal.
For African music, the moment reflects the continued rise of Afrobeats and African artists on the international stage. As streaming, touring, and global collaborations continue to open new doors, Burna Boy's latest record is another sign that African music is no longer a niche export—it's a permanent part of the global mainstream conversation.
