Rwandan rapper Bruce The 1st has revealed that senior rappers are actively involved in the fight against drug abuse by advising younger artists to avoid the mistakes they once made.

Speaking in an interview with IGIHE, the fast-rising rapper, who is also set to perform at the “Icyumba cya Rap” concert scheduled for December 26, 2025, said today’s young rappers are fortunate to have grown up witnessing the negative effects of drug use through older artists’ experiences.

Bruce The 1st explained that established rappers such as Green P, P Fla and Bull Dogg have personally spoken to him, urging him to stay away from drugs and focus on building a sustainable career. He noted that these conversations go beyond music and touch on personal discipline and life choices.

According to the rapper, drug abuse has serious consequences for artists, affecting their health, judgment and long-term careers, particularly for newcomers who may lack experience in handling fame and pressure.

Bruce The 1st, who has spent three years in the music industry, said he has never used drugs. He added that while he previously consumed alcohol, he made the decision to stop two years ago. He also disclosed that he once smoked but quit shortly after.

The rapper entered the music industry while still in high school and has now spent five years as an artist. During that period, he has released five EPs, including Nah Kiddin’, Sad Boys, Ask and Receive, The 1st Style and Bruce wa mbere. He recently released an album titled T.O.N.
