Award-winning Ghanaian entertainment pundit Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo has raised concerns about his safety, alleging that his life is under threat following comments he made about the country’s Independence Day celebrations.
Speaking in an interview, Arnold disclosed that he received warnings after participating in a panel discussion where he criticized the absence of a national Independence Day parade.
According to him, the experience has left him cautious about expressing opinions on governance issues in the future. He indicated that the warning came from a political figure after his public commentary, prompting him to reconsider his level of engagement in political discussions.
“I’m being careful because I was warned the last time on my opinion on the Independence Day celebration discussion by a politician,” he stated.
During the panel, Arnold strongly advocated for the restoration of Ghana’s Independence Day parade, emphasizing its importance in fostering national pride and unity. He argued that rotating the event across different regions could also provide economic benefits to local communities while promoting cultural heritage.
The situation has sparked conversations about freedom of expression and the risks faced by public commentators who engage in national discourse.
Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo is widely known for his outspoken and analytical contributions to Ghana’s entertainment industry, often blending cultural commentary with broader national issues.
