Nigerian comedian and actor Emuoboh Ohare, popularly known as Acapella, has criticised the N25,000 overnight parking charge at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 2 (MMA2) in Lagos after paying N78,000 for three nights and one hour of parking.
Acapella raised the issue in a video shared on his verified Facebook page, describing the fee as excessive and exploitative. According to him, the cost came as a surprise when he returned to Lagos after travelling to Abuja.
The comedian explained that he parked his vehicle at the airport before his trip and expected to pay a much lower amount upon his return. However, airport staff informed him that the overnight parking fee had been increased to N25,000 per night, a change reportedly implemented on March 1, 2026.
“I asked him what he meant; I parked this car here since Friday, three nights and one hour,” Acapella said in the video. “The guy said overnight parking costs N25,000.”
He added that he was shocked that airport users had not publicly protested the increase.
According to Acapella, overnight parking at the terminal previously cost around N6,000 per night, making it a convenient option for travellers who preferred leaving their cars at the airport rather than using ride-hailing services.
The comedian argued that the sharp increase significantly changes that calculation. “And now the Lagos MMA2 airport charges N25,000 a night just to park your car? That means if I park my car for four nights, I’ll pay N100,000?” he said.
Beyond the parking fees themselves, Acapella also criticised what he described as a broader tendency among Nigerians to quickly adapt to rising costs without raising concerns.
His comments have since sparked conversations online about airport service charges and the rising cost of travel-related services in Nigeria.
