Marvel actor Simu Liu has confirmed that his character Shang-Chi will appear in a redesigned costume in the upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday, scheduled to arrive in cinemas in December 2026.

Speaking in a recent interview, Liu said the updated costume reflects the evolution of his character since his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He described arriving on set expecting a familiar process, only to realize that the new outfit and its components marked a noticeable change from before.

According to the actor, seeing the new design was a reminder of how much the character — and the wider Marvel storyline — has progressed. He added that wearing the updated costume was a meaningful experience and highlighted the scale of the production.

Avengers: Doomsday is being directed by Joe and Anthony Russo and will feature Robert Downey Jr. returning to the franchise in a new role as the villain Doctor Doom. Several established MCU actors are also set to reprise their roles, including Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Sebastian Stan, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Pedro Pascal.

Liu confirmed he will reprise his role as Shang-Chi in the film and expressed enthusiasm about the project, describing it as a major chapter in the ongoing Marvel storyline. The movie is officially slated for release on December 18, 2026.
