Rwandan singer Marina has responded to growing accusations that her new song Paje was stolen from rising artist Muda B, after videos comparing the two tracks circulated widely on social media.

Shortly after Marina released Paje, clips emerged online suggesting the song closely resembled a version previously shared by Muda B. However, Marina’s team disputes the claims, insisting the song belongs to her and was originally created several years ago.

Speaking to IGIHE, Marina said she could not have stolen a track she has owned for four years. “How could I steal a song I have had for nearly four years? I worked on it long ago with Passy Kizito, and we began the project at Element’s studio,” she explained.

When asked how Muda B might have accessed the track, Marina said she was unsure. “He claimed Element produced it, but when we checked, Element said he didn’t know him. We think he may have come across it the way unfinished songs sometimes circulate and decided to re-record it,” she added.

Marina said she and Passy Kizito agreed that she would take full ownership of the track and later completed it with another producer. “We only released it after four years, so I do not see how I could steal my own song,” she said.

Safi Eric, Marina’s manager, told IGIHE that they learned Muda B had already uploaded a version of Paje on YouTube before their official release. “We had known for some time that someone was trying to claim the song. After releasing our version, we filed a complaint and the one he uploaded was removed because it is our song,” he said.

Safi added that Muda B had contacted him, claiming he received the song from Element and demanded 200,000 Rwf. “When we confirmed with both Element and Passy Kizito that they did not know him, we proceeded to release our version,” he said.

He also revealed that Marina and Passy Kizito plan to release another collaborative track in January 2026.

In a video posted on his YouTube channel, Muda B said he was surprised when people told him Marina had released what he believed to be his song. He claimed that after meeting Marina’s manager and agreeing on a 200,000 Rwf payment, the team later removed the track from his YouTube channel—something he appeared not to fully understand.
