The Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) has confirmed that Cyprien Uzabakiriho, widely known as Djihad, is facing six criminal charges linked to the circulation of an explicit video involving artist Yampano and his partner.

RIB spokesperson Dr. Murangira B. Thierry said the suspect had previously been under investigation for nine offenses dating from March 18, 2022, to November 9, 2025. After a review, six of the offenses were determined to fall under criminal law, while the remaining three were classified as civil matters.

The case follows the recent spread of a private video of Yampano on social media. Among those arrested over its distribution are Djihad and Kwizera Nestor, also known as Pappy Nesta. Both were detained and immediately presented before the court.

Dr. Murangira noted that Djihad’s case file was submitted to the National Public Prosecution Authority a day after his arrest because it was an “addition” to an already-existing case.

He added that he had repeatedly advised Djihad to avoid actions that violate the law, insisting that fame does not place anyone above legal obligations.

The six charges against Djihad include publishing false information, distributing explicit content, and using sexually explicit material to threaten or defame others. Some of the charges have already been forwarded to prosecutors, while others remain under investigation.
