The Democratic Republic of Congo and the Czech Republic are moving toward implementation of a new defense cooperation framework after Czech Ambassador Petr Selepa met Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Guy Kabombo Muadiamvita in Kinshasa, according to Radio Okapi.
The discussions focused on practical areas of cooperation, including the training of Congolese pilots, support for military personnel and possible equipment assistance for the Congolese Air Force.
The meeting follows earlier talks held during Kabombo’s visit to Prague, where the two sides reviewed ways to revive military cooperation.
The partnership fits into a wider push by Kinshasa to strengthen FARDC capacity through international defense partnerships. In recent months, the DRC has also explored or expanded military cooperation with other partners, including Belgium and Russia-linked discussions reported in previous regional coverage.
Kabombo said the cooperation would support the training pillar of the FARDC’s reform efforts, while the Czech side welcomed the progress made since the Prague discussions. Separate reporting from 2025 also noted Kabombo’s participation in a defense and security technology forum in Brno, where DRC-Czech defense cooperation was discussed further by regional outlets.
