Why the announcement is accelerating South African interest began rising around Sean Paul's name as the tour announcement spread from event partners into national entertainment coverage during the morning and early afternoon of 10 September. The surge shows growing attention to the dates, but it should not be read as a measure of ticket sales. East Coast Radio published the initial broadcaster-linked announcement at 5:19 PM SAST on 9 September. The Citizen followed with wider national coverage on Thursday morning, and additional South African outlets picked up the dates during the early afternoon. The announcement is bigger than a one-night celebrity appearance: it covers the country's three main touring markets and arrives early enough for fans to compare travel, accommodation and ticket sections before December. • Who Is John Boadu, the NPP’s New National Chairman?

John Boadu’s biography, NPP career, education, family facts and election as national chairman in October 2026. John Boadu is a Ghanaian accountant, data analyst and political organiser who was elected national chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on 3 October 2026. The former party general secretary won 2,888 votes at the NPP’s National Delegates Conference in Kumasi, returning to the top tier of the party’s administration four years after losing the general-secretary post. Who is John Boadu? John Boadu is a Ghanaian political administrator and accountant who rose from polling-station work to become NPP general secretary and, in October 2026, national chairman. His long party career also includes youth, finance, communications and organising roles, as well as a period leading Ghana’s State Interests and Governance Authority. A return to the NPP’s top leadership The Ghana News Agency reported that Boadu succeeded Stephen Ayesu Ntim, who did not seek another term. Boakye Kyerematen Agyarko placed second with 2,408 votes, Paul Afoko received 790 and Sammy Crabbe recorded 41. The result gave Boadu a four-year mandate at a moment when the opposition party is reorganising after its 2024 election defeat. The chairmanship is different from the general-secretary role Boadu previously held. The chairman leads the party’s national executive structure and helps shape its organisation and strategy, while the general secretary manages much of its day-to-day administration. His immediate challenge is therefore political as well as operational: keep competing NPP groups together and prepare the party for Ghana’s 2028 election. That rebuilding effort follows the NPP’s loss of power in December 2024, a reversal also reflected in XTRAfrica’s coverage of former finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta . Boadu’s new office puts him at the centre of the party’s attempt to recover from that defeat. From accounting to party organisation Boadu trained in business and accounting before becoming one of the NPP’s most experienced administrators. A 2023 profile published when he was appointed to SIGA says he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Ghana Business School. It also records work as a tutor, financial controller and general manager before his rise through party structures. His political path began at grassroots level. The same profile lists service as a polling-station chairman and agent, Ablekuma South constituency secretary, Greater Accra research and elections officer, national youth treasurer, national youth organiser, deputy communications director and national organiser. That sequence matters because it shows a career built within the party rather than through elected public office. In 2015, while serving as national organiser, Boadu became interim general secretary after Kwabena Agyepong’s suspension. He was elected substantive general secretary in 2018. A Ghana News Agency account of his later public appointment says he held the post until Justin Frimpong Kodua defeated him at the party’s 2022 conference. A Ghana News Agency account of his later public appointment says he held the post until Justin Frimpong Kodua defeated him at the party’s 2022 conference. Public-service experience and the 2026 comeback President Nana Akufo-Addo appointed Boadu acting director-general of the State Interests and Governance Authority in December 2023. SIGA oversees Ghana’s interests in state-owned and other specified entities. The appointment expanded his public profile beyond internal party organisation, although his career remained closely identified with the NPP. His 2026 chairmanship campaign drew on that long organisational record. An older Graphic profile also shows how strongly he associated his leadership with election operations and party-owned result collation. Those claims were made during an earlier campaign and should be understood as his own account of his record, not an independent audit of electoral performance. The 2026 conference result is nevertheless clear. GBC reported that the Electoral Commission declared the national-officer results , while multiple Ghanaian outlets independently published the same 2,888–2,408 margin between Boadu and Agyarko. Reports that gave different lower totals for some candidates were not used here because they conflict with the fuller declared tally. ADVERTISEMENT John Boadu’s family and private life Boadu has generally kept his marriage and partner details outside his public political profile. Two Ghanaian profiles published around his 2023 SIGA appointment describe him as a father of four, but they do not identify the children, and their privacy is preserved here. The available public record supports the child count through profiles from Daily Guide Network and The Independent Ghana . It does not establish a current spouse or partner strongly enough for publication. • DRC Mines Ministry and AFA Partner to Mobilise Diaspora Investment

DRC’s Ministry of Mines partners with Africans for Africa to mobilise diaspora capital and strengthen control over strategic minerals. Kinshasa / Lagos / London — The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has taken a new step toward strengthening control over its vast mineral wealth by entering a strategic partnership with the Africans For Africa (AFA) Initiative , a pan-African investment platform focused on mobilising African capital for African development. The collaboration, confirmed through a formal communication dated December 22, 2025, brings the Ministry of Mines and Africans for Africa Initiative (AFA) together around a shared objective: channeling capital from Congolese citizens at home and in the diaspora into the sustainable development of the country’s mining sector. In his message, Minister of Mines Louis Watum Kabamba commended the AFA Initiative for its model, which prioritises African ownership, value retention, and long-term economic impact in a sector historically dominated by external actors. This partnership is a game-changer for wealth retention in Africa,” said Tim Tokun , Managing Director and Co-Founder of AFA.The DRC holds 30% of the world's green mineral reserves. With the Ministry’s help, we will now identify the projects that will turn the DRC into a global hub for refined battery minerals.” A Shift Toward African Capital and State-Backed Investment The partnership reflects a broader policy direction under the Congolese government to rebalance the mining economy, placing greater emphasis on local participation, downstream value creation, and strategic alignment with the energy transition. Beyond minerals extraction, the initiative is designed to unlock diaspora capital, providing Congolese investors abroad with structured, state-backed pathways to invest in national development. Suleiman Zakari , Executive Director and Co-Founder of AFA, said the agreement sends a strong signal to both the diaspora and international markets. By having the DRC at the table, we are sending a powerful signal to the DRC diaspora and international investors: your capital is being deployed with the strategic backing of the State.” Continue Reading Full Article BUSINESS & INVESTMENT DRC Mines Ministry and AFA Partner to Mobilise Diaspora Investment By Serge Kitoko Tshibanda Political Analyst Serge Kitoko Tshibanda Home Comment Jan 7, 2026 May 15, 2026 4 min read Copy link Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp Published Updated: Kinshasa / Lagos / London — The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has taken a new step toward strengthening control over its vast mineral wealth by entering a strategic partnership with the Africans For Africa (AFA) Initiative , a pan-African investment platform focused on mobilising African capital for African development. • DRC Condemns Killings and Rights Abuses in RDF, AFC/M23-Held Areas

The DRC government says more than 300 people were killed in June and July amid alleged rights abuses in territories controlled by RDF and AFC/M23. KINSHASA, Democratic Republic of the Congo — August 24, 2026 — The Government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo has condemned what it describes as continuing killings, serious human-rights abuses and violations of international humanitarian law in territories occupied by the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) and AFC/M23. In an official press release issued Monday, the government said information consolidated by its competent services documented more than 300 people killed during June and July 2026 alone through alleged summary executions, massacres and bombardments. Authorities also reported hundreds of cases of rape, more than 300 cases of torture — including against students — as well as hundreds of abductions and forced recruitment cases, particularly targeting Congolese youth in Tshanzu and Rumangabo. The government further accused the forces controlling these areas of burning homes and carrying out looting against civilian populations. Kinshasa Alleges Population Transfers From Rwanda The statement also accused Kigali of carrying out what the Congolese government called an “organized process of population transplantation.” According to the government, more than 100 families of Rwandan origin crossed through Kabuhanga in Nyiragongo territory on August 10 before being settled in Rwibiranga, in the Buhumba grouping. Kinshasa alleges that the movement forms part of an effort to alter the demographic composition of Congolese territory under occupation. Government Denounces Illegal Fees and Parallel Administration The government also accused AFC/M23 and the RDF of imposing measures affecting education and healthcare. The statement alleges that fees have been demanded in primary and nursery schools despite the DRC's free-primary-education policy, while an illegal 17% levy has reportedly been imposed on schools' quarterly revenues. Hospitals, private clinics and orphanages are also allegedly being subjected to illicit taxes and charges. The government reiterated its demand for the withdrawal of M23 from areas under its control, an end to Rwandan support for the group and the withdrawal of Rwandan forces from Congolese territory. • Blue Ivy Debuts Silk Press Hairstyle at Lakers Game

Blue Ivy attended the Lakers game with Jay-Z, debuting a silk press with honey-blonde tips reminiscent of Beyoncé’s past looks. Blue Ivy Carter made a courtside appearance at the Los Angeles Lakers game on December 10, showcasing a new silk press hairstyle. The 13-year-old attended the matchup between the Lakers and the San Antonio Spurs alongside her father, Jay-Z. Her straight, natural-toned silk press featured honey-blonde tips, echoing a shade often worn by her mother, Beyoncé. The look marked a shift from Blue Ivy’s recent protective Boho braids and aligned with the ongoing trend of courtside beauty moments frequently seen this season. The hairstyle drew comparisons to Beyoncé’s soft blonde waves from the 2005 NBA All-Star Game, though Blue Ivy opted for a sleeker, more understated style suitable for the winter silk-press season. Over the years, Blue Ivy has worn various hairstyles to NBA events, including braided pigtails in early childhood, French curl braids at age 8, and a twist-out at age 10. Her latest appearance reflects a growing personal style as she enters her teenage years. Complementing the hairstyle, she wore subtle makeup with a swipe of lip gloss outlined by brown lip liner and oval French-tip nails, presenting a polished yet age-appropriate beauty look. • EFCC Declares Abdulrasheed Maina Wanted Again

Nigeria's EFCC has declared Abdulrasheed Maina wanted over alleged receipt of stolen property. The new notice does not disclose the property involved. ABUJA, Nigeria — The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has again declared Abdulrasheed Abdullahi Maina wanted, this time over an alleged case of receiving stolen property, according to a public notice issued on Wednesday, 23 September. The notice asks anyone with useful information about the former Pension Reform Task Team chairman's whereabouts to contact the EFCC, police or another security agency. It does not identify the allegedly stolen property, state its value or announce a new criminal charge. The allegation must therefore remain distinct from Maina's earlier money-laundering conviction. The EFCC says it is seeking the former pension task-force chairman over an alleged case of receiving stolen property. Its public notice does not identify the property or disclose a new charge. Maina was separately convicted of money laundering in 2021 and released in 2025. What the EFCC notice says The EFCC notice posted on its official X account identifies Maina by name and photograph and says he is wanted in an alleged case of receiving stolen property. The agency describes him as 61 and from Biu in Borno State. It directs people with useful information to contact EFCC offices across Nigeria, the nearest police station or another security agency. Vanguard reproduced the notice and its contact instructions. The EFCC did not disclose the type or value of the alleged property in the public notice. It also did not state when the alleged conduct occurred or identify any charge number connected to the new declaration. That omission limits what can safely be reported. A wanted notice is not a conviction, and the description of an alleged offence does not prove that Maina received stolen property. Premium Times reported that the notice comes after Maina failed to appear in an ongoing case before the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja. The report says the case involves allegations that he received N738 million in stolen funds. Maina and a co-defendant pleaded not guilty when they were arraigned in 2019. In February 2026, Justice Abubakar Kutigi warned that repeated absence could lead to the revocation of Maina's bail, according to the same report. In February 2026, Justice Abubakar Kutigi warned that repeated absence could lead to the revocation of Maina's bail, according to the same report. The EFCC's short notice does not explicitly explain whether the new wanted declaration arises from that ongoing trial. Reporting should not make that connection as an established fact unless the agency or court confirms it. Maina's current response to the wanted notice was not located by the verification cutoff. Any later statement from him or his legal representatives should be added promptly. ADVERTISEMENT Maina previously faced a federal money-laundering prosecution connected to pension funds. A Federal High Court convicted him in November 2021 and imposed an eight-year prison term, with the sentences on multiple counts running concurrently. The Court of Appeal upheld that conviction in May 2023. That concluded appeal record can be stated as fact, but it must not be used as proof of the new receiving-stolen-property allegation. The Nigerian Correctional Service released Maina on 25 February 2025 after applying statutory remission and counting his sentence from his October 2019 arrest date. The service told Premium Times that the release followed its standing rules and was based on good conduct. The new notice therefore concerns a person with a previous conviction, but it does not amount to a second conviction or establish the facts of the unresolved FCT High Court case. Why the distinction matters Maina's name is closely associated with Nigeria's pension-fraud controversies, making it easy for reports and social posts to combine separate proceedings. He pleaded not guilty in the ongoing FCT High Court matter described by Premium Times. The EFCC now says he is wanted over alleged receipt of stolen property, without giving full public particulars. Each status carries a different legal meaning. Conflating them could wrongly present an allegation as a judgment or imply that the current notice automatically reopens the completed conviction. XTRAfrica has previously covered how EFCC allegations must remain distinct from court findings and how concurrent sentences can be misread when large totals dominate headlines. The same precision is necessary here. The next verifiable developments would include Maina's arrest or voluntary appearance, a court order relating to bail, a fuller EFCC statement identifying the alleged property, or a response from his lawyers. Until one of those occurs, the confirmed position is limited: the EFCC has issued a wanted notice and requested public assistance. The underlying allegation has not been adjudicated, and the agency has not published enough detail to determine how the notice relates to Maina's pending case. • Burundi says Hormuz disruption should not trigger fuel panic

Burundi says the Strait of Hormuz disruption should not trigger fuel panic, while linking supply resilience to export earnings. Burundi’s government says the disruption around the Strait of Hormuz should not trigger public alarm over fuel supplies, even as the wider conflict involving Iran continues to unsettle global energy routes. Speaking during a public broadcast in Kayanza on March 27, government spokesperson Jérôme Niyonzima said authorities would keep working to ensure citizens are supplied as much as possible. Niyonzima argued that Burundi should not be unduly worried by the partial blockage affecting one of the world’s most important oil transit corridors, a route that has seen a sharp drop in shipping and heightened pressure on energy markets in recent days. He also said the government was counting on mineral exports to help generate foreign currency, reporting that shipments had brought in nearly $100 million over the six months from September 2025 to February 2026. That figure could not be independently verified, but it fits with Burundi’s recent push to expand mineral exports as a source of hard currency. The fuel message came alongside a renewed statement on Burundi’s land border with Rwanda , which Bujumbura has kept shut since January 2024. Niyonzima said reopening still depends on the handover of people wanted by Burundian authorities, maintaining a condition that continues to weigh on relations between the two neighbours.
