About the PIC External Bursary
The Public Investment Corporation SOC Ltd (PIC) is South Africa’s largest asset manager, overseeing over R3 trillion in assets on behalf of government clients like the Government Employees Pension Fund (GEPF), Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF), and Compensation Fund.
To support education and transformation, PIC invites applications for its External Bursary Programme for 2026, designed for financially needy, unemployed South African citizens who show strong academic potential and come from previously disadvantaged backgrounds.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements to qualify:
Be a South African citizen, aged 25 years or younger.
Be unemployed and residing in one of these provinces:
Mpumalanga, North West, KwaZulu-Natal, Northern Cape, Eastern Cape, Western Cape, Limpopo, or Free State.
Are you intending to enroll or currently studying full-time for your first undergraduate qualification?
Have achieved at least:
60% overall average for Matric (mid-year results accepted), or
60% average for your latest tertiary results.
Be accepted or registered at a South African public accredited university or institution.
Students living with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.
❌ Note: The bursary does not cover postgraduate or second qualifications.
Required Documents
You must attach certified copies of:
South African ID document
Mid-year 2025 results or the latest academic record
Matric certificate (if completed)
Proof of household income (any of the following):
The latest payslip of parents/guardians
Affidavit if unemployed (state annual income)
3-month bank statement if self-employed
Death certificate(s) if parent(s) are deceased
Proof of disability (if applicable)
