NSFAS Trimester 3 applications for eligible students at South Africa’s public TVET colleges are open from 14 August to 23 August 2026. Applications must be submitted online through the official myNSFAS portal.
The dates were brought forward from September. If you have seen a notice saying applications run from 3 to 14 September 2026, do not rely on it: NSFAS has officially withdrawn those dates.
Deadline alert: The 2026 TVET Trimester 3 application window closes on Sunday, 23 August 2026, in South African Standard Time (SAST). NSFAS does not state a closing hour in the published notice, so applicants should submit well before the final day.
NSFAS Trimester 3 dates at a glance
Important: the September dates are no longer valid
NSFAS originally communicated a Trimester 3 application window of 3–14 September 2026. It later moved the window forward to 14–23 August 2026 to prevent it from overlapping with the national application cycle for the 2027 academic year.
NSFAS has instructed colleges not to use the September dates on websites, posters or notices. Applicants should therefore treat 23 August 2026 as the official closing date unless NSFAS publishes another formal update.

The special window is intended for students seeking funding for the 2026 Trimester 3 intake at a public TVET college. An applicant must satisfy NSFAS’s citizenship, financial, institutional and academic requirements.
