DRC Minister of Communication and Media, Patrick Muyaya
Patrick Muyaya: “We must not give Rwanda any pretext for war.”
DRC Minister Patrick Muyaya warns against division, urging Congolese unity and restraint to deny Rwanda any pretext for war in eastern Congo.

The Congolese government’s spokesperson and Minister of Communication, Patrick Muyaya, has called on citizens and political actors to remain vigilant in the face of Rwanda’s ongoing provocations, stressing the importance of national unity.
Speaking during an interview on Telesud, Muyaya underlined that Rwanda is “obsessed with the idea of finding, by all means possible, some form of hate speech in the DRC” to justify its expansionist ambitions.
“We must avoid giving Rwanda any pretext for war in the DRC,” declared Muyaya, insisting that the Congolese people must remain united and disciplined in their resistance.
A Call for Restraint and Unity
The Minister emphasized that frustrations inside the country, particularly in the east, must be managed responsibly so they are not manipulated by Kigali. He pointed to the case of Uvira, where tensions around the Wazalendo have been exploited by Rwanda’s propaganda machine.
“The enemy thrives on division,” Muyaya warned. “Our duty is to channel frustrations constructively and avoid falling into the traps laid by those who want to destabilize us.”
Rejecting Rwanda’s Narrative
Rwanda has repeatedly claimed to act as a “protector” of certain communities in eastern Congo, a position Muyaya described as dangerous and destabilizing. He argued that such rhetoric only stigmatizes Congolese citizens and fuels violence.
“No foreign president has the right to massacre Congolese civilians under the pretext of protecting others,” he said, reaffirming Kinshasa’s determination to defend sovereignty and restore peace.
A Message to the World
Muyaya’s intervention comes at a time when the DRC continues to press the international community to recognize the atrocities committed in the east as genocide. His statement serves both as a warning to Rwanda and as a reminder to the Congolese public: unity, not division, will secure victory.
