A cellphone, smartwatch or unauthorised note in the examination room can create a serious irregularity even when the learner says it was not used.

What to Do If Two Papers Appear to Clash

A learner who believes two registered papers are scheduled for the same session should immediately contact:

0. The school’s examination officer

1. The principal

2. The relevant provincial education department

Do not wait until the examination day.

The school must confirm whether:

• The learner read the timetable incorrectly

• The subjects use different sessions

• A special examination arrangement applies

• The learner’s subject registration contains an error

• The provincial examination office must intervene

Learners should not independently choose which paper to miss.

What If a Learner Is Ill?

A learner who becomes seriously ill before or during an examination should notify the school immediately.

The parent or learner should ask the school what official evidence is required, which may include medical documentation.

Missing a paper does not automatically create a right to write it later.

The provincial examination authority must determine whether the learner qualifies for a deferred or other authorised examination opportunity.

What If the Timetable Changes?

The department or a provincial education authority may issue an official correction or operational notice.
