🎓 What Is Vula?

Vula is the official online learning system of the University of Cape Town (UCT). It gives students access to:

  • Course materials

  • Online classes

  • Study and research groups

  • Student societies

  • And many other UCT projects and departments


Whether you're attending lectures or joining tutorial groups, Vula is where your digital student life begins.


🛠️ Step-by-Step: How to Log In to Vula UCT

Website: https://vula.uct.ac.za


✅ For Registered UCT Students


  1. Open vula.uct.ac.za

  2. Click "UCT Login"

  3. Enter your UCT student number and network password

  4. Click "Login"


Don’t know your password?



👤 For Guest Users

Use your guest email and password. If forgotten, click ‘Reset Password’ on the login screen.


🏠 What’s Inside Your Vula "Home" Tab?

Once logged in, you’ll land in your Home section. From here, you can:


  • Manage your profile

  • Adjust notifications

  • Store files and links

  • View all announcements

  • Access your enrolled courses


To edit your info:


  • Click ‘Profile’

  • Then click ‘Edit My Profile’

  • Update your details and hit Save


📚 Where Are My Courses?

Your courses will appear:

  • In the tabs at the top

  • Or under the ‘Sites’ drop-down menu


➡️ Use the star icon to favorite a course. If a course isn’t listed, your lecturer may not have added it yet.


✅ How to Join a Tutorial Group

  1. Go to your course site

  2. Click ‘Tutorial Groups’ or ‘Section Info’

  3. View groups → click ‘Join’

  4. To switch, click ‘Switch’ next to a different group

  5. If full, ask your lecturer or admin to assist


📤 How to Upload or Download Resources

  • Go to the ‘Resources’ tab on the left menu

  • To upload: Click ‘Add’ → choose your file

  • To download: Right-click on the file and Save As

📩 It was sent in your UCT admission letter.

Q: Can I use a Gmail or Yahoo email for Vula?

✅ Yes, update it in your Profile section.
