Replace the sample exam number, PIN and year with your own details. Keep the asterisks. Do not add spaces before or after them.
Step-by-Step: Check WAEC Result by SMS
Buy or locate a valid WAEC result-checker e-PIN voucher if you do not already have one.
Open Messages on your MTN, Celtel or Glo phone.
Type WAEC* your exam number * your PIN * your exam year with no spaces. Example shape: WAEC*4123456789*123456789012*2026
Send the message to 32327.
Wait for WAEC to reply with your result by SMS.
Save the reply. Each successful check counts toward the five uses on that e-PIN.
Current Fees
SMS delivery: N30 per message, as stated on WAECdirect.
e-PIN voucher: WAEC’s FAQ on WAECdirect lists the reviewed e-PIN price as N1,500. Confirm the price at the WAEC office or authorised outlet where you buy.
Retail or third-party sellers may quote different e-PIN prices. Prefer WAEC national, zonal or branch offices and authorised outlets. See WAEC FAQ for official e-PIN rules.
Which Networks Work
WAEC lists the SMS short code for MTN, Celtel and Glo subscribers. The official pages still use the name Celtel. If your line is on another network, use the online checker instead, or borrow a supported line.

Common Problems and Fixes
No reply or delayed SMS
Confirm you sent to 32327, not a random number.
Confirm the format has no spaces: WAEC*ExamNo*PIN*ExamYear.
Check airtime covers the N30 SMS cost.
Retry later if the network is congested after a result release.
Wrong format errors
The most common mistake is using spaces (for example “WAEC ExamNo PIN Year”) or a shortened message without the PIN and year. Follow WAEC’s strict format with asterisks.
PIN used up or invalid
An e-PIN supports a maximum of five result checks for one candidate. After that, buy a new e-PIN. You cannot use one e-PIN for two different examination numbers.
Result not available / outstanding / withheld
SMS will only return what is on the system. If the result is missing, outstanding or withheld, see our guide on what to do when a WAEC result is not showing, or visit a WAEC office.
