Looking to work for the Department of Government Communication and Information System (GCIS)? This guide shows you how to register, search, and apply for GCIS vacancies using CareerJunction, a trusted government job portal.


Whether you're a new user or already registered, follow these easy steps to land your next opportunity.


📍 Where to Start

Step 1: Visit the Official GCIS Website

Go to www.gcis.gov.za Click on the "Jobs" tab in the top menu.


Step 2: Register as a CareerSeeker

If you're new to the platform:

  • Click on “Register FREE”

  • Fill in your personal details

  • A confirmation email will be sent once you register successfully


Already registered? Just type in your Username and Password.

📄 Step 3: Complete or Update Your Resume

After logging in:


  • Click “My Resume.”

  • Fill in all necessary details to improve your profile rating

  • Include at least 3 contactable references

  • You can also forward, print, or download your resume


🔍 Step 4: Search for GCIS Vacancies

To find open positions:

  • Type the job title in the search bar

  • Click on “Search.”

  • Browse the list of available 26+ GCIS jobs

  • Click on the job title that interests you


🧾 Step 5: Apply for a GCIS Position

Once you've chosen a vacancy:


  • Read the full job advert

  • Click “Apply.”

  • Enter your Username & Password

  • Add a cover note (must be 100+ characters)

  • Complete all application questions (compulsory!)


📎 Step 6: Upload Your Documents (Z83, ID, CV)

Before you upload:


  • Scan and save your Z83 form, ID copy, CV, and other documents

  • File must be under 2MB

  • Remove the default CareerJunction resume


Then:


  • Click “Attach my Word or PDF CV.”

  • Select your scanned file

  • Accept the Terms & Conditions

  • Hit Attach and then Apply


Boom, your application is now submitted to the GCIS HR recruiter
