C64 Delays Complaint Against Tshisekedi

The Article 64 Coalition, known as C64, has postponed the filing of its planned complaint against President Félix Tshisekedi, saying it needs more time to include new legal and factual elements in the case, according to 7SUR7.

The opposition platform said recently collected documents and developments from recent days justified a delay in the procedure.

The complaint had initially been announced for June 9 after C64 accused Tshisekedi of attempting to undermine the constitutional order.

C64 said the move does not mean the complaint has been abandoned. Instead, the coalition described the delay as part of an effort to make the legal action more robust and credible before it is submitted.

The postponement follows earlier opposition mobilization against possible constitutional changes in the DRC. It was previously reported that C64 had announced both the complaint and a planned sit-in, while another report says that opposition concerns over constitutional reform have centered on fears about presidential term limits.
