Alikiba is a Tanzanian singer, songwriter and label founder whose romantic Swahili records helped Bongo Flava travel across East Africa. Credited on his official channel as Ally Salehe Kiba, he built an early regional breakthrough with Cinderella, returned from a quieter period with “Mwana,” signed to Sony Music and won the 2016 MTV EMA for Best African Act.
He now runs Kings Music and shares his work through his official X profile. In 2026, “Finale” with Bien brought his measured vocals to a new generation before “Bhuju” and “Utanionea” extended that renewed momentum.
Who is Alikiba? Alikiba is Tanzanian Bongo Flava singer-songwriter Ally Salehe Kiba, also known as King Kiba. Active since 2004, he rose through romantic Swahili hits, won the 2016 MTV EMA for Best African Act, founded Kings Music and remains a major East African voice through his 2026 collaborations.
“Mwana” and the Breakthrough That Reset Alikiba’s Career
Alikiba was already an East African star before “Mwana,” but the 2014 single became the defining turning point in his second career phase. After the early popularity of Cinderella, Ali K 4Real, “Macmuga” and “Mapenzi Run Dunia,” he had spent several years releasing less frequently. “Mwana” returned him to the centre of Tanzanian popular music with a melody that felt recognisably his while meeting a changed radio and video market.
Mdundo’s report on the 2015 Kilimanjaro Tanzania Music Awards records that Alikiba won five honours, including Artist and Male Artist of the Year, Best Entertainer and two awards connected to “Mwana.” The sweep showed that his earlier fame had not become nostalgia.
That cycle soon widened. “Chekecha Cheketua” and “Unconditionally Bae” with Sauti Sol strengthened his cross-border audience, and in May 2016 OkayAfrica reported his Sony Music deal, describing him as the first East African artist signed by the company. “Aje” followed as one of his best-known records, proving that the “Mwana” return was a durable reset rather than a single successful moment.
Formative Life and Creative Roots Before Cinderella
Alikiba’s official YouTube biography gives his name as Ally Saleh Kiba and his birth date as 29 November 1986. Current release credits use the fuller spelling Ally Salehe Kiba. He is 39 years old as of 6 August 2026 and turns 40 on 29 November 2026.
His Tanzanian nationality is clear, although published accounts conflict over whether his precise birthplace should be described as Kigoma, Iringa or Dar es Salaam; this biography does not turn that unresolved locality into certainty.
