The organizers of Tour du Rwanda have assured that the ongoing insecurity in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) will not affect this year’s race. Around 80 cyclists from different parts of the world are expected to participate.

The international cycling race will take place across different regions of Rwanda from February 23 to March 2, 2025.

In a statement released on Thursday, February 6, 2025, the Tour du Rwanda management emphasized that the instability in eastern DRC will not disrupt the event.

The statement read:

"Recently, fighting affected people on the Rwandan side near the border. Measures have been taken to ensure such incidents do not happen again."
"Life in Rubavu and other parts of Rwanda continues as usual. Therefore, Tour du Rwanda will proceed as planned, with no changes to its schedule. Riders, teams, and fans can be confident that security will be ensured, and they will fully enjoy the race."
