Police announce road closures for Tour du Rwanda 2025. Stay safe and follow alternative routes during the race.
The spokesperson of Rwanda Police, ACP Boniface Rutikanga, has advised people to stay safe while following the Tour du Rwanda 2025. There will be changes to the usual road usage, and some roads will be closed.
On Sunday, February 23, 2025, both Rwandans and international fans will start watching the race. It will begin in Kigali with the first stage called Individual Time Trial (ITT), which will start at BK Arena and finish at Stade Amahoro.
Rwanda Police has announced that the road used for this stage will be closed from 3:00 AM to 7:30 AM. The closed road includes the area from BK Arena, Controle Technique, Simba Kimironko, Kwa Rwahama, Airtel, to Stade Amahoro (VIP Gate).
In other provinces, roads will be closed only as the race passes by. After the cyclists have passed, the roads will be opened again.
Although some roads will be closed, police officers will be present to ensure safety and guide other road users on alternative routes.
ACP Boniface Rutikanga told RBA that the event will run smoothly.
He said,
"The most difficult part is in Kigali on the first and last days, as the cyclists need to complete several laps, which means some roads must be closed to ensure the race runs smoothly. We want fans to enjoy the race, but they should also be mindful of their safety. I urge parents to keep an eye on their children to avoid any accidents."
