Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has rejected claims of rigging during the September 21 governorship election, accusing critics of spreading fake results online. Speaking at a homecoming celebration organized by Esan Central residents at their local government council secretariat, he expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support that secured his victory.

“I thank the Edo people for the resounding support and victory,” Okpebholo said, adding that those crying foul are the same individuals who fabricated results online. “Edo people have spoken; they chose peace, unity, and development, and that’s how it will remain.”

The governor commended President Bola Tinubu and the APC leadership for standing by him during the election. He also assured the people of Esan land and the entire state that he would uphold justice and deliver on his promises.

Traditional leaders from Esan land, including the Onojie of Uromi, HRH Anselm Aidenojie II, expressed pride in their son becoming governor. “We appealed for support across the state, and today, it is a reality,” the Onojie said, thanking the Oba of Benin and others for their backing.

APC Chairman Emperor Jarret Tenebe praised Okpebholo for hitting the ground running, pledging that his administration will deliver results over the next eight years.

The event was attended by traditional rulers, government officials, lawmakers, and party faithful who gathered to celebrate what they called a new era of governance in Edo State.
