Mexican National Arrested After Police Bust R100 Million Drug Lab

#sapsHQ Police uncover R100m drug lab in Rietfontein, arrest 39-year-old Mexican man.

JOHANNESBURG – Gauteng police arrested a 39-year-old Mexican man in Rietfontein after discovering an illegal drug lab valued at R100 million.


Officers acted on gathered intelligence and monitored the property before conducting a raid. Inside, they found crystal meth, drug-making equipment, and cash.


The suspect faces charges of drug manufacturing, drug dealing, and violating immigration laws. He is set to appear in the Atteridgeville Magistrate's Court.


The operation was carried out by a specialized team including the National and Provincial Organised Crime Investigations (Narcotics Units), Counter Narcotics, Tactical Response Teams (TRT), and the West Rand K9 Unit.
