President Akufo-Addo congratulates President-elect Mahama and invites him to Jubilee House to begin a smooth transition for Ghana's leadership.

President Nana Akufo-Addo has officially invited President-elect John Mahama to Jubilee House on December 11, 2024, to initiate the transition process. This follows the Electoral Commission's declaration of Mahama as the winner of the 2024 presidential election.


In a press statement, Akufo-Addo congratulated Mahama on his "decisive victory" and vowed to ensure a smooth transfer of power on January 7, 2025. “I look forward to working with the President-elect and his team to realise this goal,” he stated, emphasizing his commitment to a peaceful transition.


The President praised the Electoral Commission, led by Jean Mensa, for their role in overseeing the elections and thanked Ghanaians for their participation in the democratic process.


Calling for national unity, Akufo-Addo urged citizens to come together to build a stronger and more resilient Ghana. “I call on all Ghanaians to unite and work together to build a stronger, more resilient Ghana,” he said.


The upcoming meeting at Jubilee House, according to the President, sets the stage for collaboration between the outgoing and incoming administrations, ensuring stability during the transition. Akufo-Addo reaffirmed his dedication to good governance and strengthening Ghana's reputation as a beacon of democracy in Africa.


He concluded with optimism for Ghana’s future, saying, “May God continue to bless our homeland Ghana and make her great and strong.
