Covering over 6,000 km², Kahuzi-Biega seamlessly connects highland and lowland rainforest ecosystems. Two dormant volcanoes, Mount Kahuzi (3,308m) and Mount Biega (2,790m), dominate the skyline. It’s the only park in the world where visitors can trek into the territory of the critically endangered eastern lowland gorilla (Grauer’s gorilla) — the largest gorilla species on Earth.
