East African music duo Vijana Barubaru, also known as V-BE, has collaborated with singer Gogo Ashley on a new single titled Color, a melodic release that centres on themes of love, emotional renewal, and connection.
The track explores how the presence of a meaningful partner can uplift the spirit and redefine ordinary experiences. Through its lyrics and composition, Color reflects the idea that love has the power to ease emotional burdens and bring warmth to life’s quieter moments.
The chorus, featuring lines such as “colour my days, colour my nights, colour away, take my Monday blues,” reinforces the song’s message of affection and emotional vulnerability, presenting love as both comfort and healing.
Color was written by Philip Munyao Mutuku and Dennis Njoroge Wambui. Production was handled by Denzel, with co-production, mixing, and mastering by Run. The accompanying visuals were directed by The Black Jurist.
V-BE comprises rapper and spoken-word artist Mwanaa and singer-songwriter-producer Tuku Kantu. The duo formed in 2016 after meeting during an audition in Kikuyu and later gained recognition by winning DJ Pinye’s Dreams 2 Beats competition in 2018, a milestone that solidified their creative partnership.
Known for their urban, poetic, and soulful sound, V-BE has built a growing audience across East Africa, particularly following the success of their 2022 single Sasa Hivi. The duo describes their music as a reflective archive that captures evolving social emotions and personal narratives.
With Color, V-BE, and Gogo, Ashley continues their artistic trajectory, delivering a project that underscores intimacy, renewal, and the emotional depth of modern East African music.
