Popular Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has spoken publicly about overcoming smoking, alcohol use, masturbation and anger issues, which she attributed to prayer and spiritual intervention.

Dikeh shared the testimony during a Sunday service of the New Season Prophetic Prayers and Declarations (NSPPD) at Streams of Joy International Church, led by its founder, Pastor Jerry Eze. A video of the service was shared on YouTube by DCLImagery.

Addressing the congregation, the actress said she began smoking at the age of 13 and struggled for years with alcohol use and masturbation. She said these challenges ended after what she described as divine intervention.

“I smoked since I was 13. God healed me from masturbation too,” she told the congregation, adding that she had experienced long-standing spiritual struggles.

Dikeh said her decision to speak publicly was an act of thanksgiving, despite concerns about public perception. She stated that her participation followed what she described as a turning point after attending the Ghana Prayer Conference.

She also spoke about dealing with severe anger, which she said had negatively affected her relationships and personal life. According to her, consistent prayers through NSPPD brought a sense of peace she had not previously experienced.

“I am 40 years old, and I can tell you I have never known peace until now,” she said.

The actress disclosed that her smoking habit lasted about 27 years and linked its onset to early exposure at home, urging parents to be mindful of habits children may emulate.

Dikeh said she no longer experiences urges for cigarettes or alcohol, describing the change as permanent. During the service, Pastor Eze prayed for her and declared that she had been restored and commissioned for a greater purpose.

She later shared photos from the church service on Instagram, describing herself as “a living testimony of mercy.”
