Ghanaian musician Samini has responded to concerns raised by some Ghanaians about the increasing influence of foreign music in the local market.
According to the award-winning artiste, the presence of foreign music—particularly from Nigeria—should not be viewed as a threat but rather as motivation for Ghanaian musicians to expand their reach and strengthen their global presence Samini urges Ghanaian musicians….
Speaking in an interview, Samini said he sees African music as a collective force rather than a competition between countries. He stressed that Nigerian music and Ghanaian music both represent Africa on the global stage.
“I look at Africa as a united group of people. So Nigerian music or Ghanaian music is African music to me,” he said. He added that if musicians want their songs to gain international recognition, they must be willing to study and apply the strategies that have helped others succeed across borders Samini urges Ghanaian musicians….
Samini encouraged artistes to examine the “blueprint” that has enabled Nigerian musicians to achieve global visibility and adapt similar approaches to their own careers. He noted that success in international markets requires deliberate effort and strategic planning.
