Nollywood actress Peju Johnson has responded to online criticism following a viral intimate scene from her latest film, Right Thing, released on her YouTube channel.

The scene, which features Johnson and a co-actor, has sparked widespread debate across social media platforms, drawing mixed reactions from viewers.

Speaking on the controversy, the actress said she was aware of the challenges that come with being in the public eye, especially after transitioning from other career paths into acting.

Johnson clarified that the reactions to the scene do not reflect her personal life, stating that she is not interested in men or sexual relationships.

I’m not someone who is attracted to men. People who know me well, especially my family, are aware that I’m simply not interested in men or in sex,” she said.

She further explained that her perspective is shaped by personal experiences, revealing that past trauma has influenced her outlook on intimacy and relationships.

According to the actress, public judgment based on film roles is often misplaced, noting that acting requires portraying characters that may not reflect personal beliefs or lifestyle.

Johnson also highlighted what she described as a recurring stereotype within the film industry, where successful actresses are often unfairly labeled.

“It’s not easy being an actress, especially a beautiful one. There’s this assumption that if you’re successful and in the spotlight, you must be promiscuous. That stereotype needs to stop,” she said.

The actress added that despite the criticism, she remains focused on her career and committed to her craft.
