In an enthralling international friendly match at Stade de Marrakech, Morocco, the Super Eagles of Nigeria emerged victorious against the Black Stars of Ghana with a narrow win of 2-1. The match took place on Friday, March 22, 2024, and kicked off at 4:45 PM local time. The absence of key players was noted on both sides, with Nigeria's star striker Victor Osimhen and Ghana's Mohammed Kudus, of West Ham, missing due to injuries. Wilfred Ndidi of Leicester City captained the Nigerian side, marking his return after missing the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023.

The match saw Nigeria taking control early on, with a notable performance from Kelechi Iheanacho. The deadlock was broken in the 36th minute when a Ghanaian defender's handball led to a penalty, which Cyriel Dessers of Rangers converted to give Nigeria the lead. The second half intensified when Ghana's Jerome Opoku was sent off with a red card in the 56th minute. Nigeria capitalized on the advantage, with Ademola Lookman scoring in the 84th minute following strategic substitutions by coach Finidi George.

Despite Nigeria's dominance, Ghana managed to claw back into the game with a late penalty, successfully converted by Jordan Ayew, bringing the score to 2-1. However, Nigeria held on to secure the win, adding a thrilling chapter to the storied rivalry between the two West African football powerhouses.
