Ghanaian actor and comedian Clement Bonney, popularly known as Mr Beautiful, has expressed his ambition to one day become the President of Ghana.

Speaking in an interview, the entertainer said his long-term political goal is to occupy the highest office in the country, although he remains open to starting with other political roles if the opportunity arises.

“I want to become the next President. Who wouldn’t want to be the child of a rich parent? Becoming means it’s a process. I will go through the process to become,” he said.

Mr Beautiful indicated that he would consider running for Member of Parliament if he has the necessary resources and receives support from constituents. According to him, he does not believe in delaying political ambitions simply because the timing may seem uncertain.

The comedian has already been involved in Ghana’s public sector through his appointment to the Government Board of the Creative Arts Agency. He said the board has begun holding meetings and he is optimistic about the progress that can be made in strengthening Ghana’s creative industry.

Meanwhile, the government has announced financial support for the sector, allocating 20 million Ghana cedis as seed funding for a film fund, with an additional 20 million Ghana cedis dedicated to supporting the film industry.

Mr Beautiful also revealed that he became a card-bearing member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2010, and he expressed satisfaction with the current state of Ghana’s economy.
