Nigerian singer Lekan Osifeso Jr., popularly known as Lojay, has said he reconsidered his early views about fame and relationships after entering the mainstream music industry.
Speaking on the I Said What I Said podcast, the “Monalisa” crooner revealed that he initially associated success in music with increased access to women. However, he said his perspective changed as he began to understand the demands of sustaining a long-term career.
“There is a lot of temptation in the music industry,” Lojay said, noting that exposure to such environments requires restraint. He explained that while attention from female fans can be overwhelming, maintaining discipline is necessary for artists seeking longevity.
According to him, managing distractions becomes more critical as popularity grows. He added that observing established artists influenced his decision to adopt a more disciplined lifestyle.
Lojay also said that one of his biggest surprises after gaining mainstream success was discovering that the lifestyles he once admired were less appealing in reality.
He further emphasized that many artists are more cautious than people assume, as they are aware of the impact of their actions on their public image and careers.
While acknowledging that the industry presents numerous temptations, the singer said his personal disposition has helped him maintain a level of discipline compared to some of his peers.
