The Kinshasa War College (EGK) officially closed its sixth training cycle on July 8, 2026, with 27 senior officers receiving higher military education certificates, according to Radio Okapi.

Among the graduates were 11 international trainees, reflecting the school’s growing regional reach. Ten officers also earned a Master II in strategic studies, defence and disaster management from the University of Kinshasa.

Established through defence cooperation between France and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the EGK prepares FARDC officers for senior strategic and command responsibilities.

The French Embassy said its support for the institution is aimed at strengthening Congolese military expertise and helping the DRC protect its sovereignty, defend its territorial integrity and improve national security.

Since its creation, the school has trained 154 senior officers, including 110 Congolese. It is also part of the Francophone War Colleges Network and the International Network of Security and Defence Schools.

The EGK now aims to become a regional centre of excellence serving countries across Central, East and Southern Africa.
