Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo says single motherhood is no longer widely stigmatized, noting changing attitudes toward marriage and relationships.

Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has said societal attitudes toward single mothers are shifting, with more men now seeking committed relationships rather than casual arrangements.

Speaking about the evolving perception of single motherhood, Ojo said the status is no longer viewed as a social stigma, noting that many single mothers and their children are thriving across different areas of life.

According to the actress, some men now deliberately pursue relationships with single mothers because of their maturity and life experience. She added that these men often make their intentions clear from the outset, including a desire for marriage.

Ojo encouraged women who have experienced failed relationships not to feel discouraged, saying acceptance and commitment can still come from future partners. She emphasized that a past breakup does not diminish a woman’s value or prospects.

In a personal remark, the actress described herself as an advocate for single mothers, urging them to embrace confidence, resilience, and self-worth. She advised women in similar situations not to feel ashamed of their status and to focus on personal growth and stability.

Her comments reflect broader conversations in Nigeria about changing family structures, gender expectations, and relationships, particularly as social norms continue to evolve.

The remarks were reported by Tribune Online.
