DR Congo has asked FIFA to review ticket refunds after Ebola travel restrictions affected fans before the 2026 World Cup.

DR Congo’s football federation has asked FIFA to consider refunding 2026 World Cup tickets bought by supporters affected by Ebola-related travel restrictions, according to a BBC Sport Africa report.

Fecofa president Veron Mosengo-Omba said fans should not lose the money spent on tickets after restrictions made it difficult or impossible for some supporters to travel to matches in North America.

The request comes after the WHO declared the Ebola outbreak a public health emergency of international concern, affecting DR Congo and Uganda.

Canada has also introduced new Ebola-related measures for travelers from affected countries, including Congo, South Sudan and Uganda, according to previous reports .

FIFA told reporters it would look into the request, while its normal ticket policy generally favors resale or transfer rather than refunds unless exceptional circumstances apply.

DR Congo are returning to the World Cup for the first time since 1974, but the outbreak has already disrupted preparations and fan travel plans.
