Eniola Ajao recalls her journey from accounts clerk to Nollywood star and urges Nigerians to use social media more responsibly.

Nollywood actress Eniola Taiwo Ajao has opened up about her unexpected path to fame while calling on Nigerians to be more mindful of how they behave on social media.

According to Saturday Sun, the actress said online platforms have created opportunities for communication and business, but careless comments and false assumptions have also damaged relationships and affected people's mental health.

Ajao urged social media users to avoid judging others based on what they see online. She said many people are dealing with private struggles, and harsh comments can push vulnerable individuals into depression or worse.

Despite her concerns, the actress believes social media remains a positive tool when used responsibly. She encouraged users to show empathy and think carefully before reacting to posts or spreading opinions about others.

Looking back on her acting career, Ajao revealed that Nollywood was never part of her original plan. She said her journey began in 2003 while working as an accounts clerk, after film producer Great Value noticed her during a meeting with his uncle, who was also her employer.

With her employer's support, she started attending acting rehearsals in Ogudu after work. The opportunity quickly changed her life, and by 2004, she had landed a lead role alongside established actors including Femi Adebayo, Peju Ogunmola, Deji Adenuga and Bimbo Akinsanya.

Reflecting on the lessons she has learned over the years, Ajao said patience, resilience and hard work have shaped her career. She believes every stage of life has a purpose and encourages aspiring actors to trust the process while remaining committed to their goals.

As conversations around mental health and online behaviour continue to grow, Ajao's message highlights the importance of kindness both on social media and in everyday life, while her career journey serves as a reminder that unexpected opportunities can change a person's future.
