DRC President Félix Tshisekedi has said the Republic will officially honor Fally Ipupa following the Congolese star’s landmark Stade de France concerts, according to Actualite.cd.

Speaking during a press conference on May 6 at the African Union City, Tshisekedi said he had promised to decorate the artist on behalf of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The announcement followed Ipupa’s May 2 and 3 performances at the Stade de France, which were presented as part of his 20-year solo career celebration.

The concerts marked a major step in Ipupa’s international trajectory. Le Monde reported ahead of the shows that the Congolese singer was using the Paris stadium dates to revisit two decades of music, alongside the release of his album XX.

The recognition also carries cultural weight for the DRC. Congolese rumba, central to Ipupa’s musical identity, is listed by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage shared by the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Republic of Congo.

For Kinshasa, the proposed decoration positions Ipupa’s Stade de France milestone not only as a personal achievement, but also as a national cultural moment with international visibility.
