KINSHASA, Democratic Republic of the Congo — August 31, 2026 — The DRC Ministry of Justice and Keeper of the Seals has officially confirmed the arrest of Denise Dusauchoy in Tanzania, saying the operation was carried out under international judicial cooperation between Congolese and Tanzanian authorities.

According to Communiqué No. 0031/CAB/ME/MIN/J&GS/2026, Dusauchoy was arrested on August 30, 2026, by the competent Tanzanian authorities in execution of an arrest warrant issued by judicial authorities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The ministry said the arrest follows judicial proceedings connected to criminal cases currently under investigation.

It also revealed that in October and November 2025, the Prosecutor General at the Court of Cassation sent three international letters rogatory to Belgian judicial authorities concerning criminal cases opened by the Kinshasa/Gombe prosecutor's office involving Dusauchoy and other individuals.

According to the statement, international arrest warrants had also been issued as part of those proceedings.

The Justice Ministry praised what it described as the “quality and effectiveness” of cooperation between Congolese and Tanzanian authorities, saying that cooperation allowed the judicial measure to be executed while respecting applicable procedures.

Kinshasa also thanked Tanzanian authorities for their cooperation and reaffirmed the DRC's intention to strengthen international judicial cooperation in the fight against impunity and for the effectiveness of justice.

Importantly, the ministry stressed that the arrest is a procedural judicial measure and does not determine Dusauchoy's guilt.

She remains presumed innocent until a final judicial decision is issued.

The communiqué was issued in Kinshasa on August 31, 2026, by the Communication Unit of the DRC Ministry of Justice and Keeper of the Seals.
