Davido was nominated in the Best African Music Performance category but did not secure the award. In a post shared on his official Instagram account, the Grammy-nominated artiste admitted the loss affected him emotionally and initially made him reluctant to attend post-award events.


He revealed that Chioma reassured him with words that helped restore his confidence and perspective following the announcement of the results.


“Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat,” Davido quoted his wife as saying, adding that her support motivated him to step out despite his disappointment.


Chioma later responded publicly, reaffirming her belief in her husband and describing him as “the perfect one.”


The 2026 Grammy Awards featured several African nominees across multiple categories, reflecting the continent’s growing presence on the global music stage.
