According to Tribune Online, Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has missed out on winning a Grammy Award once again after losing in the Best African Music Performance category at the 2026 ceremony.

The 68th Grammy Awards were held on Sunday at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, where Davido was nominated for his song “With You” featuring Omah Lay. The award, however, went to South African singer Tyla for her track “PUSH 2 START.”

Other nominees in the category included “Love” by Burna Boy, “Gimme Dat” by Ayra Starr featuring Wizkid, and “Hope & Love” by Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin.

The annual event, organised by the Recording Academy, recognised achievements across nearly 100 categories spanning multiple music genres. The ceremony was hosted by Trevor Noah and featured performances by several international artists, including Sabrina Carpenter, Bruno Mars, and Lady Gaga. It was broadcast on CBS and streamed via Paramount+.

Davido’s loss extends his Grammy nominations without a win to five. In 2024, he received three nominations at the 66th Grammy Awards but did not secure a win, including nominations for Timeless and “Unavailable.” He was also nominated at the 67th Grammy Awards in 2025, where his collaboration “Sensational” lost to Tems’ “Love Me JeJe.”

Despite repeated nominations, the Nigerian singer has yet to claim a Grammy Award.
