Pop star Britney Spears has voluntarily entered a rehabilitation facility following her recent arrest for driving under the influence (DUI) in California.
The 44-year-old singer was arrested on March 4 in Ventura, near Los Angeles, on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs. She was released the following day.
A representative for Spears confirmed on April 12 that the singer has since checked into a treatment centre, describing the incident as “unfortunate” and “completely inexcusable.”
According to the statement, Spears is expected to comply with legal proceedings related to the case and take steps toward personal recovery. Her team expressed hope that the move marks the beginning of a “long-overdue change” in her life.
The statement also noted that her family, including her two sons, will remain involved in supporting her during the rehabilitation process, alongside efforts to establish a structured plan for her well-being.
Concerns about Spears’ behaviour have grown among fans in recent years, particularly following the end of her conservatorship in 2021.
Her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, had previously voiced concerns about her condition, warning that failure to address ongoing issues could have serious consequences for their family.
